(L-R): Dean, Student Affairs, Prof. Samuel Oluwalana, Chairman, SSANU, Comrade Abdulsobbur Salaam and Dr. M. F. Adekunle inspecting the repair work being carried on the road.
Staffers of the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (UNAAB) and some voluntary organizations on campus rendered community service, by repairing a portion of the Gbonagun/Camp road, for easy passage for members of the University community and other road users.
The road, which is the major route leading to the University from town became deplorable, making driving a Herculean task for drivers and other road users.
Consequently, members of staff of the University, led by the Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Samuel Oluwalana and Chairman, Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), UNAAB Chapter, Comrade Abdulsobbur Olayiwola Salaam mobilized other staffers, members of the Man ’O’ War and other voluntary organizations on campus in the community service.
They transported a chunk of sand, excavated from the on-going reconstruction of the University Ceremonial Road, to fill the bad portions of the road.
It has been observed that since the filling of the festering pot holes, motorists and other commuters have been plying the affected portion of the road with ease.
According to a motorist, who craved for anonymity, the spirit of community service exhibited by staffers of the University and the voluntary organizations is worthy of emulation.
Meanwhile, work is still ongoing at UNAAB Ceremonial Road.
It would be recalled that recently, Management awarded the contract for the construction of the road to Oriental Femab Amimike Quarry and Construction Company Limited.
