The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun has described students of the institution as highly obedient, disciplined and courteous.

Professor Balogun made this assertion in his remarks during the 2011 Students’ Industrial Working Experience Scheme (SIWES) Orientation Programme of the University.

Professor Balogun, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Chryss Onwuka, admonished the work-experience, students to be good ambassadors of the University, at their various places of placements.

The University’s Director of SIWES, Professor Oluwole Ajala, called on the students to be self-reliant and resourceful. He charged them to eschew violence, corruption and other vices that could tarnish the image of the University.

In his presentation, Mr. Thomas Jacobs, who led the team from the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), said SIWES was not just about education but also about ensuring that learning is engendered within the context of work, and ultimately ensuring that work is influenced by learning.

Mr. Jacobs, however, admonished the students to be dedicated to duty, display positive initiative and drive in all their undertakings and always be neat, humble and safety conscious at work place.

The Dean, College of Natural Sciences (COLNAS), Professor Tope Poopola was among the dignitaries at the occasion.
