The Vice-Chancellor, University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun has described the students of the institution as progressive and peace-loving.
Professor Balogun made this assertion in his remarks at a symposium, jointly organized by the Halls of Residence executives of the University.
He admonished the students to distant themselves from evil acts and eschew all forms of violence which could destabilised the academic calendar. He expressed the hope that by October 28, 2010, final year students’ results would have been released, to enable them participate in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme.
The Vice-Chancellor commended the executives of both the male and female halls of residence for not allowing undue harassment by students. He charged them to continue to hold on firmly to their integrity.
The Guest Speaker, Mr. Kuro Ngoboh, in his lecture titled “Managing Your Finances … Now and For the Future” urged students to cultivate the habit of saving, to help them prepare for trying days.
Mr. Ngoboh, the Group Head (Retail), Guaranty Trust Bank, Ogun State, called on the students to shun the habit of lavish spending.
He also lauded the students for their entrepreneurial disposition as he stressed the need for them to operate bank accounts.
