The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun, disclosed this at the presentation ceremony of the plaques and certificates of the Best Exhibitor Award among educational institutions, conferred on the University, at the last Nigeria @ 50 Exhibition, recently in Abuja.

The Vice-Chancellor said no efforts would be spared towards the establishment of the Centre and that a Committee Report is expected by the end of November, to facilitate early endorsement of the Governing Council.

Professor Balogun said the need to establish the Centre, stemmed from the positive entrepreneurial exploit of the University in recent time as well as the impact of the University’s Industrial Park Unit (IPU), in the commercial processing and packaging of various agricultural products of the University.

He said the goal of the IPU, should expand beyond revenue generation to be self-sustaining, saying “we should be adequately disposed towards encouraging our students to be self-reliant. The IPU should be an economic centre, capable of inculcating entrepreneurial interests in our students”.

In presenting the plaques and certificates received at the Exhibition, the leader of the University delegate and Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development, Professor Segun Lagoke assisted by Mrs. Funmi Oluwalana, said University products, particularly the UNAAB Palm-wine, displayed at the event, enjoyed good patronage.

Professor Lagoke further disclosed that several people also indicated interest in becoming distributors for the products, attributing the success to the radical transformation of the IPU by the current administration of the University.
