All efforts are now in place to ensure a successful hosting of the Pre-NUGA Competition by the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.
The competition billed to hold between February 6 and 9, 2011, will see UNAAB play host to ten competing Universities under NUGA Zone – F, which comprises of the host, University of Agriculture, Abeokuta; University of Ibadan; University of Lagos, Akoka; Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye and the Lagos State University, Ojoo. Others are the Lead City University, Ibadan; Bells University, Ota; Redeemers University, Mowe; Covenant University, Ota and Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode. Games to be competed for include, Football (men); Basketball (men and women); Volleyball (men and women); Handball (men and women); Chess, Table-Tennis (men and women) and Lawn Tennis (men and women). Other games to be competed for are, Badminton (men and women); Squash (men and women); Taekwondo (men and women); Judo (men and women); Athletics (men and women) and Swimming (men and women). A Local Organizing Committee (LOC), headed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Chryss Onwuka, has been constituted with the mandate of preparing and strategizing towards the success of the competition. Members of the LOC had conducted an inspection tour of all the venues to be used for the games.
