The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun has assured the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA), Netherlands, of the University’s readiness to host the Web 2.0 Learning Opportunity Programme, scheduled for September 18 – 22, 2010 and 25 – 29, 2010 in UNAAB and Ibadan, respectively.
Professor Balogun gave this assurance during an interaction with the CTA’s Training Programme Manager, Dr. Rodger Obubo, who came on a courtesy visit, to officially inform that the University won the hosting right.

The Vice-Chancellor who disclosed that the University had set the necessary machinery in motion to ensure the success of the training programme, added that electricity would not be a hindrance during the programme.

According to him, “the University is noted for its commitment to duty and reputed for making a success of any responsibility it embarks upon”. He assured that the facilities in the University were “capable of hosting the entire West African countries on similar training”.

In his presentation, Dr. Obubo said the vision of CTA, is focused on agricultural and rural development with farmers and the rural populace as the main beneficiaries.

Highlighting the advantages of the training, the Manager said the Web 2.0 Application will improve the networking and management of agricultural information amongst development actors, by enhancing information retrieval and collaborative generation of content. Other advantages according to him include improved information sharing with an effective
and cost-efficient communication.

Meanwhile, interested participants for the Web 2.0 Tools for National Learning Opportunities are enjoined to take note of the following schedule for the training programmes in UNAAB and Ibadan, respectively:
