One-Day Training Workshop for Master Bakers in the University, the Vice-Chancellor stated that it is important that students should be equipped with a special skill before they graduate in order to look beyond their academic qualification.

Prof. Oyewole noted that students will be trained in various skills of their choice like “baking, sewing, event planning, brick-laying, carpentry and furniture etc.

Declaring the Workshop closed, the Vice-Chancellor thanked the Management of UTC and urged them to always visit FUNAAB whenever the need be for further research work.

He urged the master bakers not to relent, but keep on moving forward in their work.

In her closing remark, the Managing Director, UTC Nigeria, Mrs. Folusho Olaniyan employed the bakers to get more equipment that could speed up their production, which will in turn translate to more revenue.

She thanked the University Management, C:AVA and Prof. Sanni, stating that she look forward to visiting FUNAAB again, as she declared, “Nigeria has come to stay with cassava bread”.

Making case for the master bakers, Chief Richard Olanrewaju Aderemi called on Federal Government not to neglect the bakers to their plight, as it has been with several governments in the past where policies will be made on cassava flour for baking but all eventually died naturally.

Also, Chief Mrs. Ronke Daniels, also known as madam cassava and CEO, Ladmok Company Limited urged the bakers to learn from the UTC team and don’t depend wholly on government to develop themselves.

The Workshop came to an end with the presentation of UTC souvenir pack made up of cassava flour baked foods and the newly baked bread during the course of the workshop.
