In the maiden Webinar Series of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde emphasised the imperative of a doubled commitment from all University stakeholders to enhance progress and achieve established objectives.

Addressing the University community, Prof. Kehinde called for collective efforts toward achieving the University’s goals, while underscoring the significance of unity and shared purpose for meaningful accomplishments.

He called upon both staff and students to embrace discipline and diligence in their responsibilities despite challenges, acknowledging the transient nature of time and the enduring nature of people.

Expressing concern about staff escalating health issues, the Vice-Chancellor appealed to everyone to prioritise their well-being through regular medical check-ups and strict adherence to medical advice.

Prof. Kehinde, a Fellow of the Institute of Health and Safety (FIHS) advocated for a healthy lifestyle, stressing the importance of addressing challenges openly to prevent any loss of life within the University.

Regarding health-related issues, he assured that the University Health Services and the gymnasium at the Sports Centre are readily available to assist in physical well-being.

Revealing plans for 2024, the Vice-Chancellor affirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming FUNAAB into an environment that all stakeholders can be proud of.

He disclosed that his administration had established a dedicated team to maintain campus facilities, ensuring a seamless working, teaching, and learning environment.

Despite resource constraints, Prof. Kehinde assured stakeholders of ongoing efforts to provide more work tools, maximising the available funds for optimal results.

Acknowledging the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND)’s support for staff training and infrastructural development, the Vice-Chancellor anticipated increased funding for broader benefits.

He urged stakeholders to emulate the principles of active listening, open communication, and conflict avoidance for a peaceful environment, adding that such engenders rapid development and growth.

On Internal Generated Revenue (IGR), he encouraged all Departments, especially revenue-generating units, to contribute to the optimal utilisation of funds.

Announcing the 31st Convocation Ceremony to be held on January 26 and 27, 2024, the Vice-Chancellor assured timely proceedings for graduating students whose results have been approved by the University Senate.

As part of the Convocation Ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor revealed plans by the University to confer Honorary Degrees on the former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, and the Co-founder of Guaranty Trust Bank, Mr. Fola Adeola.
