The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, today, April 30, 2026, congratulated students of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta International School (FUNIS), on their exceptional performance in the recently concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), describing the feat as commendable and worthy of celebration.

While commending the students during the reception held in their honour, the Vice-Chancellor expressed delight at the impressive results recorded. He revealed that none of the 44 candidates presented for the examination scored below 200, with 10 students scoring above 300, 23 scoring between 250 and 299, and 11 scoring between 200 and 249. He noted that the achievement underscored the culture of excellence synonymous with FUNAAB.

Prof. Kehinde attributed the success to divine grace, as well as the dedication of the school’s leadership, teachers, hostel staff and parents. He particularly commended the Principal, Mr. Olusola Ilori, and members of staff for their steady commitment and sacrifices towards ensuring quality education.

Charging the students to remain focused, the Vice-Chancellor emphasised that the UTME success marked only the beginning of their academic journey. He urged them to intensify preparations for the forthcoming WAEC, NECO and other qualifying examinations, while also encouraging participation in extracurricular and entrepreneurial activities to foster holistic development. He cautioned against the misuse of mobile phones, noting their potentials to distract students from academic goals.

Prof. Kehinde further encouraged the students to consider FUNAAB for their tertiary education, describing the University as a leading institution in agricultural education in Africa, renowned for merit, innovation and entrepreneurship. He highlighted the availability of practical training in over 20 vocational skills through the University’s entrepreneurship programmes, designed to produce self-reliant and globally competitive graduates.

In his remarks, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Chairman, FUNAAB Schools Management Board, Prof. Olusegun Idowu, lauded the students for their discipline, resilience and dedication. He reminded them that the UTME achievement was not the final destination and urged them to sustain their momentum as they prepare for subsequent examinations.

Also speaking, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Olawale Dario, commended the collective efforts of both students and teachers in achieving the outstanding results. Responding on behalf of the school, the Principal, expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor and the University Management for their continued support. He described the outcome, particularly the absence of any score below 200, as a remarkable milestone for the school.

Representatives of parents, Engr. (Mrs.) Temitope Aboyeji and Com. Olurotimi Fasunwon, also expressed gratitude to the school authorities for their dedication and commitment to the students’ welfare and academic success.

In her vote of thanks, the Senior Prefect (Girl), Miss Oluwatosin Adebayo, appreciated the Vice-Chancellor, University Management and the school staff for their steadfast support throughout the preparation period, while appealing for sustained assistance to the school.
