The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kolawole Salako has congratulated the newly-elected FUNAAB Students’ Union (FUNAABSU) executive for successful and peaceful election, tasking them not to betray the trust reposed in them by their fellow students in particular and the University in general.
Addressing the new Students’ Union executives, Prof. Salako said “It always gives me great joy whenever I see young people taking up positions of responsibilities, and one thing that the University takes pride in, is the fact that 99 per cent of our students are responsible”.
He charged the new executives not to allow themselves to be used by any individual to initiate violence or any act capable of bringing disrepute to the University, as anything that could dent the image of the University would negatively affect their certificates.
Prof. Salako added that, “The welfare of your students should be paramount on your mind and so never allow anyone push you into violence as violence could easily be hijacked, and in the end, it is the students who end up paying for it”.
The Vice-Chancellor assured the new executives of University Management’s support, stressing that “You have a management that will always listen to you, as you also have a right to express your concerns but do it within the law. We will work with you as we worked with others before you. Do not allow anyone deceive you with wrong information”. Responding, the new President-elect, Comrade Abiodun Oloyede appreciated the management team for meeting with the new executives, assuring that they would be the best, ever produced in FUNAAB.
