The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun, has charged Secretaries and other staffers of the University, not to allow their personal challenges inhibit efficient service delivery.
Professor Balogun gave the charge while declaring opened, the fourth In-House Seminar/Workshop of the University Secretarial Staff Association (USSA), UNAAB Branch, last Wednesday at the Julius Okojie Lecture Theatre Complex.
Represented by the Dean, College of Veterinary Medicine, Professor (Mrs.) Morenike Dipeolu, the Vice-Chancellor noted the possibility of naturally experiencing domestic challenges as humans, but counseled for high level of maturity by Secretaries, not to carry such to their offices.
The Vice-Chancellor said “once the challenges are imported to duty posts, there will be undue interference that will inhibit service delivery”.
Professor Balogun commended the Secretaries for contributing immensely to the realization of the proactive vision of his administration, with a reassurance that the provision of staff welfare will be paramount at all levels of service.
Speaking in the same vein, the Acting Registrar, Mrs. Christiana Kuforiji, enjoined Secretaries to learn how to relate with all shades of character, particularly visitors.
Represented by the Deputy-Director (Establishment, Senior Staff), Mr. Adewusi Agbotoba, the Acting Registrar said Secretaries should report perceived uncouth behaviours, instead of reacting to them.
Besides, Mrs. Kuforiji also admonished Secretaries to always be willing to learn, embrace and master the use of modern-day technology in the discharge of their duties.
Also in her Goodwill Message, the Acting University Librarian, Dr. (Mrs.) Mulikat Salaam stressed the need for Secretaries to imbibe the culture of good human relations while discharging their duties.
Earlier in her Welcome Address, the Chairperson USSA, UNAAB Branch, Mrs. Olajumoke Arowosegbe, commended the University Management for its commitment to the capacity development of members and the staff at large.
She assured the Management of the Association’s unflinching support and cooperation.
