It was all cheers and camaraderie on September 9, 2025, as the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, threw his weight behind the FUNAAB Staff Football Team (FSFT), appreciating their role in promoting unity, fitness, and the University’s image through sports.

Welcoming the FSFT Executive and Board Members to his office, Prof. Kehinde likened the teamwork on the pitch to the synergy required for institutional growth, assuring that Management would continue to stand firmly behind the team.

In a symbolic gesture of support, the VC presented two footballs to the players, further fueling their passion for the game.

Responding, FSFT Coordinator, Mr. Victor Opakunle, saluted the University leadership for being a reliable supporter over the years, pledging that the team would remain a “partner in progress.” Echoing the spirit of the game, Board Member, Prof. Dele Akinbode, stressed that football was more than a sport, adding that it was a lifestyle that builds health, stamina, and resilience.

The highpoint of the visit was the presentation of a souvenir from the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) to the Vice-Chancellor, a gesture that symbolised inter-university friendship through football.

With the Vice-Chancellor’s backing, the FSFT looks set to keep scoring both on and off the field, as sports continue to strengthen FUNAAB’s legacy of excellence.
