The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olusola Bandele Oyewole fielding questions from Journalists at Rock City Fm
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Bandele Oyewole has attributed the success story of the University since it was established Twenty-Five (25) years ago to dynamic leadership.
Speaking on Rock City FM, Abeokuta favourite Programme, “Day Break Show” on Wednesday, Professor Oyewole said FUNAAB had been lucky to have good Vice-Chancellors and Governing Councils that are prudent managers of resources and personnel.
According to him, “the success you have seen in FUNAAB, physically speaking is the result of good leadership. We have been lucky from day one. We are blessed to have Professor ‘Nimbe Adedipe as our foundation Vice-Chancellor.
“We also thank God for having Professors Julius Okojie, Isreal Adu, and briefly Professor Ishola Adamson and of course my predecessor Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun. I will tell you all of them performed miracles with Professor Adedipe being the core miracle performer”, he added.
He stressed “we are also blessed with good Governing Council from inception. I need to mention that the current Council led by Chief Lawrence Ayinde Osayemi is fantastic. They are the people providing the quality policy guidelines that is moving the development that you see in FUNAAB”.
“My predecessors in Office I must tell you have put on ground the system of discipline, the system of commitment and the system of fund management. For example, if you get to FUNAAB, you will see us buying new buses and you will be wondering how come? Where did they get money to buy new buses”.
“It is so simple, we are committed to the fact that the acceptance fee that our students pay, are not wasted. We ensure that we use it to buy books, attend to facilities that will enhance the welfare of our students”.
“I also need to mention that the current Council has made commitment that 40 per cent of all internally generated revenue of the University should be committed to infrastructure development and that is why I tell you anytime you get to FUNAAB there will be one infrastructure going on or the other”, he added.
