… As 2024/2025 Academic Session Second Semester Examination Continues

In a demonstration of unwavering commitment to student welfare and continued show of compassion, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, has once again reached out to indigent students with the donation of food items to ease their burden as they commence their 2024/2025 Academic Session Second Semester Examinations.
The gesture, which has become a hallmark of the 7th Substantive Vice-Chancellor’s administration, took place on May 20, 2025, with the distribution of food packs containing spaghetti, sweet potatoes, tomato paste, salt and other staples.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor at the event was the Dean, College of Biosciences (COLBIOS), Prof. Iyabode Kehinde, who noted that the initiative was borne out of concern for students’ welfare during the examination period. She expressed gratitude to God for the grace to continue the act of kindness.
According to her, the Vice-Chancellor not only sustained the initiative but also expanded it this semester by increasing the number of food packs from 50 to 80, enabling more students to benefit from the support.

She encouraged students to remain focused and diligent in their studies, stressing the importance of maintaining good health during examinations.
Also present at the distribution were the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Festus Adeosun and the Deputy Dean, Prof. Oluseyi Ojekunle, among others.
The students, visibly grateful, commended the Vice-Chancellor for the kind gesture and pledged to make the most of the examination period.
In a related development, the Founder of LAKEM Global Foundation, Mrs. Oluwakemi Fashina, popularly known as Mamiwater , also donated food items to 50 additional students. She described her gesture as a contribution to student welfare and a show of support for the Student Affairs Unit and the University at large.

According to her, providing food support was her way of showing love and encouraging students, stressing that proper nutrition was essential for academic performance.
Commending the initiative, the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Festus Adeosun, appreciated the Vice-Chancellor and LAKEM Foundation for their generous support, especially at a time when many families face economic hardship. He encouraged the beneficiaries to embrace hard work and excel in their examinations, noting that present challenges should inspire them towards a bright and successful future.
Prof. Adeosun emphasised that the true way to repay the kindness shown was through academic excellence and by extending similar support to others when they are in a position to do so.
Items donated by LAKEM Foundation were packs containing rice, garri, salt, vegetable oil, pepper, and sugar.
