By Adewole Oduwole
The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, has reaffirmed the University Management’s commitment to staff welfare and healthy living.
This assurance came during a Courtesy Visit by the Vice-Chancellor to the Congress of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU-FUNAAB), held today, July 22, 2025. The visit, described as timely and thoughtful, was aimed at sympathising with the Union over the loss of some of its members and to foster stronger collaboration between Management and staff.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Kehinde empathised with the Union and called for unity, understanding, and compassion among colleagues. He encouraged staff to prioritise their health, eschew bitterness, and adopt positive lifestyles regardless of age.
According to him, the University is working closely with the University Health Services to facilitate free medical tests for staff as part of preventive healthcare.
The Vice-Chancellor also disclosed plans to engage other staff unions through similar visits, in a bid to harmonise efforts and drive the implementation of holistic wellness initiatives across the campus, leveraging the Health Services, Sports Directorate and Wellness Centre.
Highlights of the Congress included a Health Talk by representatives of Richlance International Limited, a food supplement specialist firm, and a solemn Prayer Session in honour of departed members and for the wellbeing of the living.
