The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, has reaffirmed the University’s commitment to delivering quality education and nurturing academic excellence across all its institutions, including its International school, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta International School (FUNIS).

Speaking through the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Olawale Dairo, at the 19th Speech and Prize-Giving Ceremony and the 16th Valedictory Service, the Vice-Chancellor commended the school for its consistent growth, academic distinction, and rising reputation both nationally and internationally. He particularly lauded the school’s impressive performance in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), noting that 100% of its students scored above 200, a feat he described as a clear reflection of the school’s high academic standards and effective pedagogy.

The Vice-Chancellor congratulated the students on their achievements and encouraged them to remain focused, diligent, and exemplary as they progress in their educational journey. He also acknowledged the sacrifices and support of parents and guardians, praying for their continued strength and guidance. He charged the students to uphold the values of discipline and excellence as worthy ambassadors of FUNIS.

In his Address, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Chairman, FUNAAB Schools’ Management Board, Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, commended the management and staff of FUNIS for their dedication to academic excellence and character development. He noted that the school remains a model for other institutions, urging the students to continue striving for excellence and upholding the values instilled in them.

On his part, the Principal of FUNIS, Mr. Olushola Ilori, urged the graduating students to live responsibly and apply the values they have been taught. He expressed his gratitude for the time spent with the outgoing students and wished them success in their future endeavours.

Delivering a thought-provoking lecture on Resilience and Overcoming Challenges, the Guest Speaker and 2012 alumnus of FUNIS, Mr. Oluwadamilare Aluko, emphasized key principles for personal growth: embracing difficult tasks, learning from failure, taking calculated risks early, and building meaningful relationships. He stressed that cultivating resilience and positive habits early in life is crucial for long-term success.

The ceremony drew students, staff, parents, and special guests together to celebrate the remarkable achievements of the students and reaffirm the shared values of excellence, integrity, and discipline that FUNIS represents under the guiding vision of FUNAAB.
