VC Takes Delivery of Senate Building Phase One Extension

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Felix Kolawole Salako has taken delivery of the magnificent Senate Building Phase One Extension constructed by EDIL Nigeria Limited in a ceremony attended by Principal Officers, Directors and Heads of Units.

The Vice-Chancellor who expressed satisfaction with the quality and spate of work done at the Building, admonished the Contractor equally to do a good job with the Phase Two of the Building and avoid rushing it so as to avoid any failure.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, the project started in 2019 and the Contractor kept working in spite of the Covid-19 lockdown, commending them for their dedication to duty.

He stated further that the Contractor continued to work assiduously in order to deliver on schedule, noting that the result of their hard work was being witnessed today.

Professor Salako declared that the Phase Two of the Building which has started is scheduled to be delivered in November, 2022. He, however, appreciated the Contractor’s job, stressing that they took all the building regulations into consideration before, during and after construction to achieve the best.

Besides, the Vice-Chancellor said that there would be a link between the old Senate Chamber and the new one, adding that there would be transmission of whatever is happening in the new one to the old one by the time it is fully completed. He, therefore, urged those that would occupy the new building not to underutilized the facilities.

In his response, the Project Manager, Architect Ibrahim Lawal of EDIL Nigeria Limited appreciated the University Management for their support.

Meanwhile, the Phase One of the Senate Building Extension  comprised 300-Seater Senate Chamber, Two Offices on the Ground Floor, One kitchenette, One Office on the First Floor, Three Offices on the Second floor and a Store for both the Registry and the Bursary Departments. The yet-to-be completed Phase Two has the new Offices of the Pro-Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor.
