VC Urges Administrators to Embrace ICT for Enhanced Efficiency

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, has urged University Administrators to fully adopt Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools to enhance efficiency, transparency, and innovation in service delivery.

Speaking through the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, the Vice-Chancellor gave the charge during the 2025 ANUPA Day and Presentation of Meritorious Awards, organised by the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators (ANUPA), FUNAAB Chapter. The event, themed “Leveraging ICT for Effective Administration: Emerging Trends and Practices,” celebrated administrative excellence and recognised exceptional members of the Association.

The Vice-Chancellor commended ANUPA members for their dedication to duty, describing them as indispensable to the smooth running and success of the university system. He urged them to continually upgrade their skills and align with global best practices to remain relevant in today’s rapidly evolving digital world.

In his goodwill message, the Registrar, Dr. Titus Adeniyi, represented by the Head, SERVICOM Unit, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Dawodu, lauded the Association for recognising and celebrating its retirees while alive, noting that such gestures promote a culture of appreciation and motivation. The Registrar also encouraged members to uphold the highest standards of professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

Earlier, the Chairman of ANUPA, FUNAAB Chapter, Mr. Adewale Ojoye, emphasised the critical role of Administrators in sustaining the University’s reputation and ensuring effective governance.

In his Keynote Address, the Deputy Director, Directorate of Information and Communication Technology Services (DICTS), Mr. Oluwatoyin Akinola, emphasised the need to adopt ICT-driven administrative tools to foster efficiency, accountability, and innovation in University Administration.

Highpoint of the event was the presentation of Meritorious Awards to outstanding Administrators for their exemplary service, commitment, and significant contributions to the University’s growth and development. The honourees included a former Ag. Registrar of FUNAAB, Dr. Linda Owunka; former Registrar, Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State, Mr. Peter Akinlabi; Mr. Aderemi Adebayo; Mrs. Olufunke Elemo, Mr. Bola Ijaodola and Alhaji Kasali Adenekan.

Responding on behalf of the awardees, Dr. Owunka, also the Pioneer Registrar of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, Delta State, expressed gratitude to the University Management and ANUPA leadership for the recognition, pledging continued commitment to excellence and service.

The colourful event concluded with the presentation of awards and a celebration of administrative professionalism, teamwork, and excellence within the University Community.
