VCN Accreditation Team Visits COLVET – As Management Canvasses More Slots

The Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN) has commended Management of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) for not relenting in improving and upgrading the facilities at the College of Veterinary Medicine (COLVET).

Speaking during the visit of the Accreditation Team of the Council to the University, the Chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Magaji applauded the University for putting in necessary and commendable efforts in providing the vital facilities that will enhance the smooth operations of the College.

According to him, “Going round the College, let me say a lot has been achieved and the University has put in a wonderfully sufficient effort. Meanwhile, I expect that you continue to do your best in providing more facilities because I believe you are still a work in progress”.

Prof. Magaji while describing VCN as a government regulatory agency of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and a quality assurance organ that aims at ensuring minimum quality of training of student noted that the team’s sole task is to ensure that the quality of training is improved upon from time to time.

Responding, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kolawole Salako represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Prof. Bolanle Akeredolu-Ale welcomed the Team to the University, assuring that lot of improvements and efforts have been put in place by the University to ensure that Veterinary Medicine retains its accreditation status.

He implored them to work towards increasing the admission quota of students being admitted into COLVET, stating that efforts have been put in place to provide a conducive learning environment for students.

Corroborating him, the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Development), Prof. Clement Adeofun stated that the issue of quota is really germane to the University, stressing that though FUNAAB is a specialized University, necessary facilities are being provided to accommodate more students.

He however enjoined them to increase the admission quota of Veterinary Medicine in order to afford prospective students who are interested in studying at the College the opportunity to realise their dream.
