The Valedictory activities, held in honour of the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun have ended gloriously, leaving on its trail indelible memories of celebration of achievements, enviable values and the communal spirit of the FUNAAB’s family.
Organized by the University’s Ceremonials Committee, the programmes, which began on Monday, March 26, 2012 with the Graduation Ceremony of FUFASS Scholars, ended successfully with an Appreciation Dinner for CERECOM members by the Vice-Chancellor, on Tuesday, May 15, 2012.
The Valedictory activities, witnessed series of reception for the outgoing Vice-Chancellor by stakeholders, visits and tour of offices and facilities of the University.
Highlights of the exercise included visit to the sites of the University’s Community-Based Farming Scheme (COBFAS) at Isaga-Orile, Iwoye-Ketu, Odogbolu and Ode-Lemo where Professor Balogun was honoured with chieftaincy titles of Akinfimojoye, Bobagunwa, Ologbin and Atayese, respectively.
Others were: facility tour of the University by journalists, send-forth by FUNAAB Staff School, FUNIS, Community Day of Appreciation, Valedictory Dinner and Valedictory Church Service and Reception.
On the entourage of the Vice-Chancellor to the various programmes were his wife, Prof. (Mrs.) Elizabeth Balogun; the In-coming Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Bandele Oyewole; Principal Officers; Deans and Directors; Chairman, Ceremonials Committee, Professor Babatunde Idowu and his members.
Responding to the outcome of the programme, CERECOM’s Chairman, Professor Idowu, said: “it’s been very great and wonderful. I think Professor Balogun deserves all the accolades and the ceremonies”.
Prof. Idowu thanked member of the University community for giving the Vice-Chancellor a rousing reception at every occasion he attended.
He also commended CERECOM members and the Thanksgiving Service Anniversary Committee, for a job well done.
