The University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun, has affirmed that his administration is moving towards ensuring that about 60 capital projects were completed and commissioned at his valedictory.

The Vice-Chancellor disclosed this fact while he was leading top officials of UNAAB to conduct the former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, on an inspection tour of completed and on-going projects in the University.

Professor Balogun said all necessary logistics would be put in place, to ensure that the contractors delivered the various projects in good time and equally ensured that neither quality nor due process was compromised.

At the site of the 2,500-Seater Auditorium, Chief Obasanjo commended the complexity and quality of work and advised the Managing Director of the construction company, Engr. Davis Olowooniran, to step up efforts, in order to finish in good time.

Chief Obasanjo said the construction company should consider the option of working round the clock to complete the project. “They will have to work at night to complete in good time”, he advised.

Responding to an enquiry from his guest, on the special emphasis for constructing more female hostels as compared to those for the male, the Vice-Chancellor said it was a deliberate move to curb some of the horrible experiences they (female students) face in town.

The Vice-Chancellor said the decision was a Management’s response to mitigate the ugly experiences the female students encounter in town, saying “what they (female students) pass through in town is horrible”.

On the rationale for scattering infrastructure and facilities across the University’s expanse land, the Vice-Chancellor said the move was to forestall possible encroachment.

In his words, Professor Balogun said, “We discovered that the best approach to safeguard the entire land irrespective of its vastness, was to strategically site new development across it”.
