Hassan, J. O.
Specialist in Veterinary Public and Preventive Medicine and Vaccinologist. A consultant in Small Animal Medicine. Research focus in using the host pathogen interaction to understand infectious Diseases pathogenesis and to optimise immune protection.
Recent focus is to characterize the prevailing salmonella serotype in the country with the aim of obtaining a hot strain that can be used for vaccine development.
Investigation and establishment of a database for scientific approach to rabies control and eradication in South Western Nigeria.
A comprehensive approach to the monitoring, diagnosis and control of major zoonotic diseases that militate against the growth of livestock and poultry industry in Nigeria.
Dipeolu, Morenike Atinuke
Professor Dipeolu obtained the degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Ibadan in 1987. During this period she got awards and prizes from the Federal Government, Departments in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the Faculty prize for academic excellence. She subsequently had her Masters and Ph.D degrees in Veterinary Public Health from the same institution. Prior to her Ph.D she obatained the Japanese Government Monbusho Scholarship in 1995, which she utilized for research in food safety at the Gifu University Japan. She is a Fellow of the College of Veterinary Surgeons Nigeria.
Prof. Dipeolu has had considerable experience in collaborative research and projects such as: Collaborating scientist in the WHO/TDR sponsored project on “Development of rapid methods for Mectizan Distribution” (1994); “Health consequences of lifestyle changes among pastoral populations in South-Western Nigeria” (Wellcome Trust, 2004) and “Improving benefits of peri-urban livestock production through management of associated health and environmental health risks in Nigeria” (IDCR/ILRI, 2004 – 2007). She has also led other projects as; team leader (animal health component) “Getting more from livestock: the potential of collective action to improve the quality and safety of animal-source foods informally marketed by women (CAPRi/ILRI, 2008 – 2010); Integrated Animal and Human Health Management Project (ILRI, 2010) and “Impact assessment study on Avian influenza control and Human Pandemic Preparedness and Response” project (ILRI, 2011). She was also the team leader of the “Antimicrobial usage in Animals and Drug Resistance in Nigeria (FMARD, 2014).
Her Research interest is in food safety, specifically in antibiotic residues in food animal products and epidemiology, virulence characterization and antimicrobial resistance of zoonotic pathogens in animal-source foods. She is has widely published in local and international journal and has supervised numerous students at undergraduate and postgraduates levels.
Prof. Dipeolu has been the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine FUNAAB (2008 – 2013) and currently a member of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria. Oloye, A. A. Specialist in theriogenology with emphasis on ethno-theriogenology.
Research focus
Enhancement of reproductive potentials of male and female animals using natural products. Recent research focus has been on the use of medicine plants to enhance andrological and gynecological properties of laboratory, companion and food animals.
Conception rate in Ewe following insemination using pawpaw juice, coconut milk citrate and egg-yolk citrate extenders.
Kehinde, O. O.
He’s a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Veterinary Public Health and Reproduction at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB). His area of research is Epidemiology of Zoonotic diseases in the environment and foods of animal origin. He has worked extensively on the epidemiology of Campylobacter in meat and milk using molecular tools for identification and characterization for disease prevention in food animals. He has also worked on the epidemiology of Zoonotic pathogens in slaughter houses in Abeokuta. He is a visiting research scientist to the Ohio state University, USA He has published in both national and international peer-reviewed journals. He currently teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in veterinary Public Health and preventive medicine in the College of Veterinary Medicine at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.
Adebowale, O. O.
A lecturer in the department of Veterinary Public Health & Reproduction. She was involved in a research which focused on the characterization UK open farms in relation to practices (such as farm structures and layout, animal husbandry and management practices, and provision of hygiene facilities for visitors) associated with the risk of visitors being exposed to Escherichia coli O157and other zoonotic pathogens. The study investigated the prevalence and farm-level risk factors for VTEC O157, and other zoonotic pathogens such as Salmonella and Campylobacter on the UK open farms, and commercial farms participating in the annual national scheme programme tagged “open farm Sunday event”- A DEFRA funded project.
Furthermore, she has worked on projects with special interest in the development of novel diagnostic technologies for bacteria at molecular level by using antisense strategies, and a novel delivery agent PHMB to improve intracellular ODN macromolecule delivery and fixation free fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH).Currently, interested in the application of molecular biology and epidemiology research techniques to study selected bacterial and viral zoonoses of public health interests in Nigeria.
Olurode, S. A.
He specializes in Theriogenology of ruminants covering fertility, herd health management, use of assisted reproductive technologies for better performance of indigenous species. His research focuses on diseases affecting male and female animal reproductive tracts which limit animal productivity in sub-saharan Africa in order to enhance optimal productivity towards achieving sustainable animal production and food security.

d. Estimation of time of ovulation in West African Dwarf Ewes following ovsynch synchronization protocol.
e. Prevalence of salmonella and antibiotic resistance in selected breeder farm and hatcheries in Ibadan and environments.
f. Evaluation of Scrotal Circumference and Spermiogram of West African Dwarf Bucks
g. Histo-morphometric studies of the testes of West African Dwarf Bucks.
h. A survey of abnormalities of the genitalia of bulls slaughtered at the Lafenwa Abattoir, Abeokuta.
i. The effect of trypanosomosis on male reproductive of Wistar Albino rats.
j. A survey of the abnormalities of the reproductive tracts of slaughtered cows in Lafenwa Abattoir, Abeokuta.
