The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kolawole Salako has restated the determination of University Management in repositioning FUNAAB to become a leading citadel of learning. The Vice-Chancellor disclosed this while receiving the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB), Prof. Adewale Okunuga, during the 2019 JUPEB conference, held in the University.

Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Morenike Dipeolu, the Vice-Chancellor expressed delight that the hosting of the conference was a modest way of realising the hopes and aspirations of the founding fathers of FUNAAB, stressing that the gesture would reposition the University for global development, better performance, and enhanced productivity. The Vice-Chancellor said the University Management was aware that FUNAAB has remained one of the few partnering institutions that had never recorded any examination malpractice, promising that the University would sustain the legacy. Prof. Salako revealed that FUNAAB had an overall aggregate of 76.8 percent, out of the students that had maximum points in the examination.

The JUPEB boss said that the conference was aimed at bringing together over 50 university lecturers and teachers of JUPEB, to generate examination questions. Prof. Okunuga posited that the exercise was a serious one that required responsible and security-conscious personnel with some level of integrity and honesty to work together. The JUPEB Registrar called on participants to take the exercise with all seriousness, urging them not to get distracted, while appreciating the Vice-Chancellor for the opportunity and approval extended to the Board, to host the conference in FUNAAB.

The Director, Institute for Human Resources Development (INHURD) of FUNAAB, Prof. Oluwasanmi Arigbede said the conference was an annual event meant to gather the best professionals to set standard examination questions in the various subjects offered by JUPEB. According to him, INHURD serves as a feeder to the University’s undergraduate degree programmes through the production of well-tutored and better-baked pre-degree, sub-degrees, and advanced level students (Cambridge and Interim Joint Matriculation Board). Prof. Arigbede stated that the institute has a separate campus, which is fully residential, situated far away from the main campus, and within a serene environment, to guarantee students’ concentration.
