Former Deputy Vice-Chancellor, (Academic), Professor Oluwatoyin Arowolo has charged members of the University Community to always seek knowledge because no one is a fountain of knowledge.

Speaking during a Send-Forth ceremony organized by the College of Environmental Management Resources (COLERM) in his honour, Prof. Arowolo disclosed that he really didn’t want to be a teacher but rather he wanted to be a manager of a company, working with white men because they give to their workers that which is due to them and do not cheat any of their workers.

He however, described the academic profession as a beautiful one and thanked God for venturing into it adding that he has never regretted being an academics.

He enjoined his academic colleagues to be committed and emulate good things such as encouraging students because social media is really distracting students as well as the hardship in the country.

In his advice to students, Prof. Arowolo encouraged them to take their studies seriously because education will open doors for them.  He said “with a good education, the world is at your fingertips.  Any subject can bring you to lime light, so whatever you do, do it well”.

Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kolawole Salako represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, (Academic) Prof. Bolanle Akeredolu-Ale while declaring the event open described Prof. Arowolo as a man who represents different things to different people and thanked God for his well-deserved honour.

Going down memory lane, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) Prof. Clement Adeofun said that Prof. Arowolo despite being the first Head of Environmental Management and Toxicology Department is humble and had taught those who came after him to be same.  He expressed appreciation to God for the grace granted to the celebrant to start and end well.

Prof. Adewole Gbadebo in his Valedictory Speech described the celebrant as a man of many sterling attributes both in EMT Department, in COLERM and the University at large.
