The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has taken a remarkable step in enhancing mobility and student welfare with the commencement of operations of the newly introduced “Yayi Buses.” The minibuses, generously donated by Distinguished Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, CON, have been warmly embraced by the University Community, particularly students, who describe them as a refreshing transformation in campus transportation.

Neat, spacious, and convenient, the Yayi Buses have quickly become the preferred choice for commuting within and around the campus. Beyond aesthetics, the buses have been structured to deliver comfort, safety, and affordability, the core values that reflect FUNAAB’s commitment to student-friendly initiatives.
According to Mr. Rasaq Sotonwa, Chairman of the Management Committee on University Mini Buses, the fare system, was carefully designed to remain accessible to students. A trip from the Ceremonial Gate to the Motor Park costs ₦100, to Colleges/Hostels ₦200, and to FPY Centres ₦300, with each bus accommodating a maximum of eight passengers to ensure efficiency and comfort.

For many students, the buses represent a timely intervention. Mr. Azubuike Nathaniel, a 200-Level student of the Department of Physics, College of Physical Sciences (COLPHYS), described them as “a huge relief,” citing their affordability and convenience. Similarly, Miss Oluropo Lydia, a 300-Level student in the Department of Agricultural Extension and Rural Development (AERD), College of Agricultural Management and Rural Development (COLAMRUD), noted that the buses are “spacious, reliable, and affordable,” adding that they make commuting stress-free and enjoyable.

With this development, FUNAAB has continued to project its image as a student-centred institution, prioritising not only academic excellence but also the welfare and dignity of its community. The Yayi Buses are set to redefine transportation on campus, offering a dependable and dignified commuting experience for all.
