(L-R) Regional Director, Zenith Bank, Mr. Tunji Olanipekun, DVC, Prof. Segun Lagoke and Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oluwafemi Balogun during the meeting.
The University will soon witness an upsurge in the area of Student accommodation as Zenith Bank has promised to endow a 120-bed space hostel for the school.
The hostel facility which is expected to be completed by the first quarter of next year will be fashioned after the already adopted en-suit prototype in the University.
Dropping this hint recently was the bank’s General Manager and Regional Director (Western Zone), Mr. Tunji Olanipekun, when he led other top officials on a business meeting with the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun, recently.
The Regional Director said the gesture was meant to demonstrate the corporate social responsibility principle of the bank which he noted to be deeply rooted in mutual symbiosis with the community.
Mr. Olanipekun disclosed that no effort would be spared in the bank’s preparation to be the University’s second major banker as the construction of a befitting branch in UNAAB will commence very shortly.
He noted the strong influence of the University in the development of its adjoining communities and that corporate organisations, particularly banks, considered as official partners should consider themselves lucky.
Mr. Olanipekun assured that the bank would not disappoint the University, but will remain committed to its value system of adopting the best technology in the service of the people.
Earlier in his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor noted that the presence of a second major bank in the institution will further boost efficiency and time management amongst University staff.
Professor Balogun enjoined corporate organisations to always be guided by the principle of ‘give and take’ with their host communities.
