The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Morenike Dipeolu has charged fresh students of the University to face their studies squarely because their primary purpose in the University is purely academic

Professor Dipeolu gave the charge at the Orientation Programme organised for the fresh students. Speaking on the topic, “Academic Matters, Results, Students Disciplinary Committee and the University Curriculum”, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) said the University has 47 Departments from 10 Colleges, adding that 98% of the programmes have been accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC). She stated that with the current effort by relevant stakeholders and the University, she was positive that the courses in the College of Management Sciences will be restored by the Federal Government.

Professor Dipeolu advised the fresh students to conduct themselves very well and shun vices that could send them out of the University before graduation.

Earlier, the Director, Information and Communication Technology Resources Centre (ICTREC), Professor Adesina Agboola charged the students to ensure that they do things themselves on the University portal even as he confirmed the accuracy of the data supplied to the ICTREC database.

Represented by Mr. Adeyemi Yusuf, the Director said the measure was to ensure that the students are not duped by unsuspecting fraudsters parading themselves as Cyber Cafés.

In the same vein, the Deputy Registrar, Examinations and Records, Mr. Sunday Ijaodola, highlighted some of the activities of the Unit to include preparation of students’ results, issuance of notification of results, preparation of student’s academic transcripts, verification of results as well as issuance of certificates to former students, among others. He advised them to visit the University website for more information, when in doubt.

On his part, the Chairman, Time-Table and Examinations Committee of the University, Dr. Oluseyi Ojekunle told the students that the two types of examinations being conducted in the University are Computer-Based and Written Tests. He added that punishment for examination misconduct is rustication for four semesters urging the JAMBites to desist from such acts.

The Directorate of Physical Planning was also at the Orientation Programme to present the University at a glance with pictures of all physical structures on campus, advising them not to cross the lawn.
