UNIVERSITY OF AGRICULTURE, ABEOKUTA
COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURAL MANAGEMENT
AND RURAL DEVELOPMENT
DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURAL ADMINISTRATION
Introduction
The Department of Agricultural Administration was established in 2009. The Department is one of the four Departments in the new College of Agricultural Management, Rural Development (COLAMRUD). The Department will offer programmes leading to the award of Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral Degrees and Postgraduate Diploma in Agricultural Administration.
In addition to the technological know-how that the agricultural graduates must have, they also need sound knowledge of administrative processes to effectively execute their assignments. However, negligible attention had been given to the administrative aspect which is being taught as a topical issue as agricultural extension administration. There is a general saying that “best professionals in various fields are not necessarily best managers or administrators in those fields”. Therefore effective and improved agricultural practice cannot be easily achieved if agricultural graduates are not adequately equipped with necessary basic practical administrative knowledge and skills.
