The Senate of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), at a Special Meeting held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, approved two significant endowments aimed at rewarding academic excellence among students of Egba extraction.
A Decision Extract of the Senate signed by the Deputy Registrar I, Senate & Admissions, Dr. Abdussobur Salaam, on behalf of the Ag. Registrar stated that the Abeokuta Club has endowed a prize of One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00) annually for the Best Graduating student of Egba extraction at FUNAAB. The endowment, spanning 10 years from the 2023/2024 Academic Session, was backed by a deposit of One Million Naira (N1,000,000.00) from the Club.
In a similar gesture, the Extract further stated that Dr. Tunde Olowonyo had established the Late Madam Ibiyemi Aduke Olowonyo Prize, honouring his late mother. The prize, also worth One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00) annually for 10 years starting from the 2023/2024 session, would be awarded to the Best Graduating student in the Department of Mathematics, who hails from either the Odeda Local Government Area or is of Egba extraction. Dr. Olowonyo also deposited One Million Naira (N1,000,000.00) for the endowment.
Both endowments have been forwarded to the Office of Advancement for implementation, reflecting a continued commitment to supporting academic excellence at FUNAAB.
