The Amalgamated Commercial Tricycles and Motorcycles Owners, Repairs and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN), Ogun State Chapter, has commenced its enrolment in the newly introduced Philosophy and Leadership Programmes of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB). The programme, offered through the Philosophy and Leadership Studies Unit under the Institute of Communication and General Studies (ICGNS), officially kicked off today, August 18, 2025.

Welcoming the association to campus, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, commended the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful. He noted that the programme would focus on morals, moral rectitude, and moral development, values he said would distinguish participants and elevate the reputation of ACOMORAN in society. The Vice-Chancellor emphasised that FUNAAB remained committed to its tripartite mandate of Teaching, Research, and Community Engagement, assuring that participants would receive certificates issued in the University’s name.

The Programme Leader, ICGNS, Prof. Emmanuel Akintona, applauded the Vice-Chancellor’s active involvement, stressing that the initiative was designed to build competent leaders capable of responding to the complex demands of society. He highlighted the importance of effective fiscal management in improving efficiency, boosting revenue, and reducing costs, while also acknowledging challenges such as internet and logistical constraints.

Delivering the keynote lecture, Prof. EbunOluwa Oduwole, Vice-Chancellor-Designate of Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo State, spoke extensively on virtue, describing it as the quality of doing what was right and avoiding what was wrong. She linked virtues with pleasure and happiness, urging participants to embody these values both in their personal lives and professional conduct.

Encouraging members of ACOMORAN, Prof. Oduwole remarked: “If there’s anything you want to take away from FUNAAB, take virtue completely away, and when you get outside, ensure you make use of it.”

The event was well attended by top officials of the University, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi; Director, Institute of Food Security, Environmental Resources and Agricultural Research (IFSERAR), Prof. Olusegun Idowu; Director, Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Development and Sustainable Environment (CEADESE), Prof. Adeboye Fafiolu; alongside the State Chairman of ACOMORAN, Mr. Kayode Sowunmi, members of his executive, and other stakeholders.
