The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Clement Adeofun has admonished staff of the Directorate of University Farms (DUFARMS) to be good ambassadors of the University
Prof Adeofun made the declaration at the Send-forth ceremony, organised for the immediate past Director of DUFARMS, Mr. Joseph Olobashola and another staff, Mr. Aliu Sodiq.
Addressing DUFARMS Staff, Prof. Adeofun charged them to take a cue from Mr. Olobashola’s exemplary life of commitment to service delivery ,in order to better the lots of the University and their core values as staff.
According to him, “The retirement of Mr. Olobashola is a lesson for all of us. What are they going to say about you or me at retirement, are you going to be celebrated like him or your staff will buy a broom and sweep off your footsteps from the office?”.
He further stressed that Prof. Kolawole Salako- led Management is an Administration that believes in equality of staff and fairness to all.
He noted that the Vice-Chancellor cannot administer the University alone without the cooperation of everybody across the various strata,hence the need for all members of staff to effectively play their roles and responsibilities.
His words,”Everybody needs to play their role for the system to run because, in the long run, we all have the benefits to gain”, he added.
Appreciating God for the lives of the retirees, Pro.Adeofun who represented the Vice-Chancellor as the Chairman of the occasion congratulated Mr. Olobashola and Mr. Sodiq for their contributions to the University Community.
He also lauded the spirit of oneness exhibited by DUFARMS Staff
Friends and other staff of the Directorate who spoke about the retirees described them as good role models and fathers to other staff in their place of work.
DUFARMS staff acknowledged Mr. Olobashola’s landslide achievements as the Director to include elevation of eight DUFARMS staff to the position of Academic staff; Full Mechanization of the Crop Farm Units through the purchase of Combined harvester, Cassava Planter, Cassava harvester and new Tractors with implements supplied by the University for the Farm upgrading.
