The University Bursar, Mr. Chukwunwike Ezekpeazu has commended the crop of Bursary staff in the University, describing them as valuable and important asset.
The Bursar made this known during the maiden edition of the Bursary Monthly In-House Training, organized for the Bursary staff of the University.
Speaking further during the Training tagged “Understanding the Bursary as an Integrated and Interrelated System of Functions,” the Bursar noted that Training is a means of preserving the most valued asset in the system.
He stated also that the Training is part of the ongoing restructuring and reorganization in the Bursary Department since his assumption of office as the University Bursar.
Mr. Ezekpeazu revealed that the theme of the Training was carefully chosen to emphasise to all Bursary staff that they are all working for a common goal.
According to him, other aims of the Training are, “to improve service delivery, build human capacity and to build Accountants in FUNAAB to compete successfully and favourably for Bursar positions in other Universities and Centres in Nigeria and abroad,” he said.
The format of the Training according to the Bursar is practical intensive, and intended to bridge the gap between theory and practice while it is aimed at providing opportunity for continuous professional education for the professional staff and good training ground for pupil Accountants at their various stages of professional training and examinations.
As a platform for training and improvement, the Bursar also noted that the Training will take place every month and participation is compulsory for all Bursary staff, and would be taken into consideration in subsequent appraisal of Bursary staff for annual promotion.
Earlier declaring the Training open, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kolawole Salako, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, Professor Morenike Dipeolu, also commended the University’s Bursary and noted that the onus rests on them to deliver on their mandate.

Professor Salako appreciated the Bursar for conceptualizing such Training for its staff and also thanked the Bursary staff as a team.
Speaking at the event, the University Registrar, Dr. ‘Bola Adekola described Training as essential in the staff development.
Dr. Adekola frowned at some staff atitude towards training. He said that rather than look at the knowledge to be gained during Training, people look at the money they want to make.
