COURSE SYNOPSIS
Ions in Solution: The Arrhenius theory. The conductivity of ions. Measurement of conductance and its applications. Debye–Huckel theory of ions, Kohlrausch theory and Oswald dilution. The concept of activity and activity coefficient. Solution of ions, Transport numbers, Colligative properties of solution. Reactions in solution involving Bronsted treatment of primary salt effects. E. M. F of cells and equilibrium constants chemical kinetics, rate laws, collision theory, transition state theory. Reaction coordinates, catalysis and mechanism of catalytic reaction.
