Professor Aiyedun was lauded by his colleagues for his supportive, fatherly and accommodating nature.

Delivering a Lecture on “Your Health After Retirement”, the Acting Medical Director, FUNAAB Health Center, Dr. Abiodun Amusan said, “retirement is an inevitable milestone in public service, an endpoint of a compulsory routine, a new beginning to unlimited freedom, a time to redesign the journey of life, an inevitable reduction in regular income and a river of unclear water without a bridge across the path of every public servant”.

He explained that against popular assumption, retirement should not be perceived as a death sentence, a time to go passive, a certificate of irrelevance, a time for reckless spending or a time to start a building project but should be entered with adequate planning.

Dr. Amusan advised Professor Aiyedun and others approaching retirement age on steps to imbibe to help them live a healthy retirement life to include pre-retirement health screening and behaviour, engaging in healthy pre-retirement physical activities and hobbies, having good financial status, plannin and a positive mindset, engaging in meaningful and productive activities, careful selection of food choices which should include more plant sources and less animal sources as well as regular and adequate water intake.

Responding, Professor Aiyedun appreciated the College and the University for the honour given to him assuring that his doors were always open for consultations. He disclosed that he was still going to be available for his project students and would be delivering his valedictory lecture soon.
