BRIEF HISTORY OF COLLEGE OF PHYSICAL SCIENCES
The College of Physical Sciences (COLPHYS) is one of the two Colleges created out of the defunct College of Natural Sciences (COLNAS) in 2014.
Presently, the Departments in the College run four years Bachelor of Sciences Degree Programmes which are fully accredited by National Universities Commission (NUC)
The Departments are:
- Department of Chemistry
- Department of Computer Science
- Department of Mathematics
- Department of Physics
- Department of Statistics
In addition to running degree programmes in these disciplines, the College provides teaching and laboratory services to students in other disciplines of the University at the 100 and 200 levels. Â The College is therefore foundational and central to effective running of academic programmes of the University.
The College has also produced notable University Administrators who in various ways have contributed to the development of the Institution. Â Notable ones in this group are:
- Prof. A. R. T. Solarin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, 2004 – 2006 (Mathematics Department)
- Prof. I. C. Eromosele, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, (Academic 2007 – 2009 (Chemistry Department)
- Prof. O. D. Akinyemi – Director, Academic Planning (Physics Department)
- Prof.  J. A. Oguntuase – Chairman, University Publication Committee (Mathematics Department)
