The Council of Chiefs and ‘Baales’ that make up the Villages under the Isolu/Emere-Atadi Area has commended the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kolawole Salako for the University’s immense contribution towards the building of the Police Station at Harmony Estate and the on-going rehabilitation of FUNAAB-Camp Road.

Relaying their appreciation and commendation, the Head of Baales and the Chiefs, Isolu/Emere-Atadi Land, Chief Mahdiu Sabitu-Iredele noted that since assumption of office as Vice-Chancellor, there has been peace and improved security within the area.

Chief Iredele promised the Baale’s support to the University when required, noting that as leaders, they were installed to serve the people.

Chief Iredele canvassed for more working relationships between FUNAAB and its adjoining communities. According to him, such synergy in working together will open lots of doors and opportunities.

The Area Baale prayed for God’s protection on the students of the University and the Management at large.

Addressing the Chiefs and Baales, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kolawole Salako promised that he would not neglect the communities.

Professor Salako told them the story behind the road rehabilitation and the challenges faced while building the Police Station.

On Security, the Vice-Chancellor charged the Baales to get involved in the security of their areas and locality as security matters are not to be left to the Police alone.

Speaking on the students occupying various hostels in their locality, the Vice-Chancellor called on the Baales to observe the students around them very well, and spot the ones with questionable characters and especially, the ones with the quest to “get-rich-quick, through rituals and other fraudulent means.

Based, on the foregoing, he sought the Chiefs and Baales’ support in expelling such youth/students with questionable character(s) from their communities.

On the University’s efforts on assisting the indigenes, Professor Salako noted that the university is trying its best in assisting the sons of the soil into the system, but also guided by the Federal Character rules of employment.

 He informed the visitors that the University is also ready to assist the Community members who are farmers and are willing to convert their Cassava roots into variety of products through the University’s Cassava factory.
