As an establishment that cares, especially at this period of nationwide lockdown due to the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) under the leadership of Prof. Kolawole Salako has commenced the distribution of relief materials to various strata of people in and outside the University.
The items, all FUNAAB products, the FUNAAB Garri, Palm Oil, Odourless Fufu, Palmwine, Bread, Hand Sanitizers, Face Masks and Fresh Cashew Seeds from the University plantation were doled out as palliatives to the benefactors.
First on the list of the benefactors were members of the University internal security men, who were handed loaves of FUNAAB Bread, Hand Sanitisers and Protective Face Masks.
Also, leading the team of some top University officials to reach out to members of the Police formation for a well-done job during the lockdown at the Police Headquarters, Eleweran and Harmony Divisional Police Post, Alabata Road, the Vice-Chancellor, while handing over the relief items described them as FUNAAB’s widow’s mite, saying “It is a token “.
Responding to the donation, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, Kenneth Ebrimson thanked the Vice-Chancellor and the University for remembering the Police and appreciating them at this critical period, stating that FUNAAB was the first institution to make a donation to the Command since COVID-19 Pandemic.
CP Ebrimson described the Police as the most vulnerable in the society, saying that by the nature of their work, they have contact with every stratum of the society. He charged other members of the society and well- meaning Nigerians to emulate FUNAAB by appreciating the Police.
The DPO Harmony Police Post, Alabata Road, Mr. Ademola Ijilehin on receiving the items from the Vice-Chancellor equally thanked Prof. Salako, whom he described as a friend to the Police.
