The Registrar of the University, Dr. ‘Adebola Adekola has described Registry staff who refused to train or re-train themselves, and have no solutions to offer on-the-job as endangered species in the University system.
The Registrar said this while addressing the crop of Registry staff of the University at the opening of a 3-Months Training for the Registry staff tagged, “Bridging the Digital Divide – Equipping University Registry Staff for The 21st Century”, under the coordination of the International Centre for Professional Development (ICPD).
The Registrar, who also represented the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kolawole Salako at the programme conveyed the Vice-Chancellor’s greetings to the participants and noted that the Vice-Chancellor is somebody who has the interest of his staff at heart.
According to Dr. Adekola, the 21st century work has become competitive such that to work in the University Registry, one must be competitive by equipping oneself with the necessary tools.
The Registrar charged the participating Registry staff to take the Training serious and use the opportunity to retrain and re-learn what they knew before now.

He noted that the world is going digital, and people must prepare to follow the technological trend so as not to become irrelevant to the system which will translate to lost of job for such a person.
Dr. Adebowale charged the participants to improve themselves even after the training, because, according to him, ICPD will only train them on the basics of the courses.
The Centre Manager, ICPD, Mr. Lawrence Kazeem listed the courses that the participants will be trained on to include, Administrative Skills, (Covering Meetings, Report Writing, Work Ethics and Mentorship); Microsoft Office-User Specialists (MOS); Proficiency in the use of Internet; Data Confidentiality; Office Management Technology (OMT); Computer Maintenance and Web Development.
