The Director, Directorate of Research, Innovations and Partnerships (DRIP) at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Mutiu Busari, has won the second-place position in the prestigious AI Application for Enhancing Teaching and Learning in Higher Education Award.
The award was presented during the 2025 AI Awareness Day in Higher Education, in recognition of Prof. Busari’s remarkable contributions to the advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The Chairman of the Awards Selection Committee, Prof. Nasiru Maiturare, commended Prof. Busari’s innovative work, noting that his entry stood out for its excellence and impact in shaping AI-driven policies within the education sector. The award ceremony was held virtually on February 17, 2025.
Prof. Busari’s achievement highlighted his commitment to innovation and excellence in education. His work is expected to significantly influence AI development in Nigerian higher education institutions.
The first-place award in the category went to Prof. Ikechukwu Ekene of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. The second-place award was jointly received by five distinguished scholars, including Prof. Busari (FUNAAB), Dr Victoria Oguntosin (Covenant University), Dr Oluwakemi Olurinola (Olabisi Onabanjo University), and Prof. Nnenna Ibezim (University of Nigeria, Nsukka).
The 2025 AI Awareness Day in Higher Education seeks to promote AI adoption in universities and recognise outstanding contributions to AI research and development in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Prof. Busari recently presented the award to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, in appreciation of his generous support to DRIP.
