Embrace Dialogue Always… VC Charges Newly-sworn in Student Union Executives

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde has reiterated the importance of embracing dialogue over conflict to foster the development of the society everyone can be proud of.

Prof. Kehinde disclosed this recently at the Swearing-in ceremony of the newly-elected representatives of the Student Union.

Addressing the audience at the University’s International Scholars’ and Resource Center (IS&RC), Prof. Kehinde urged the new Student Union Government to communicate their needs to the Management through dialogue and not choose the ‘war-war’ path. He expressed his administration’s readiness to collaborate with the student leaders for a successful tenure.

Commending the outgone executives led by Com. Habeebullahi Tijjani, for their efforts in maintaining peace during their tenure, the Vice-Chancellor highlighted the commendable role played by Demilade Abiodun and the FUNAAB Independent Electoral Commission (FUNIEC) team in conducting the first e-election on campus and ensuring a free and fair process.

In his farewell speech, the outgone President, Com. Habeebullahi, popularly known as Kennyology expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and the entire management for providing him with the platform to serve.

He also thanked his fellow executives for their unwavering support.

Com. Habeebullahi advised the new Student Union President, Meshach Nwankwo on the importance of team spirit, citing it as a key factor for success.

He encouraged the new president to embrace diversity, inclusivity, collaboration, and understanding to bring about positive change.

In his Inauguration Speech, the Student Union President, Com. Meshach Nwankwo expressed appreciation to the FUNAAB community for their support and massive turnout during the election, noting the historic nature of the event.

He pledged to tirelessly serve the students, promising to listen to their voices, advocate for their needs, and defend their interests.

Highpoint of the ceremony was the presentation of an award to a Security Personnel, Mr. Kayode Adesina for his diligence and steadfastness while conducting vehicular/pedestrian traffic at the Motion Ground, as well as the swearing-in of the new executive members.
