….Congratulates Vice-Chancellor On His Assumption of Office.

Federal College of Agriculture, Moor Plantation, Ibadan is seeking affiliation with the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), in order to be able to award the Degree certificate of the University.

The Provost of the College, Dr. (Mrs.)  Elizabeth Oluwakemi Augustus disclosed this when she led her Management team on a Courtesy Visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olusola Babatunde Kehinde in his Office at the Alabata Permanent Site of the University, during which she congratulated him on his appointment.

Dr. Augustus noted with concern that despite being in existence for over 100 years, the College is limited to Monotechnic level and as such, awarding only Ordinary National Diploma (OND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) because the institution is under the regulation of National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

Extolling the clout of the College, the Provost said it has carved a niche not only as a reference point in agriculture but as one of the frontline, if not the foremost citadel of Agriculture in the country and the continent, at large.

Dr. Augustus stated that having cut the shot aforementioned, it is high time for the College to take the much needed pride of place by upgrading to degree awarding institution, which is the more reason the Management is “Requesting for affiliation of academic programmes with FUNAAB” in order to be able to achieve the feat.

The Provost further stated that pending the implementation of the affiliation being proposed, the College wishes to have a robust collaboration with FUNAAB.

Thereafter, the Provost presented a letter of “Request For Academic Programmes Affiliation with FUNAAB”, as well Brochure detailing the academic programmes of the College.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor described the request of the College for affiliation with FUNAAB as a welcome development, moreso that the institution is not averse to collaborating with reputable institutions like Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan.

However, Prof. Kehinde sounded a note of caution: Both parties, especially the College must strictly adhere to procedures as stipulated by prescribed authorities, in order not to compromise standard.

On his part, the Vice-Chancellor expressed his readiness to discuss the affiliation being proposed at the level of Management, Senate and Governing Council, as well as with regulatory bodies like National Universities Commission (NUC), relevant Ministries and other stakeholders within and outside the University.

He enjoined the Provost and her Management team to follow suit by carrying along the prescribed authorities of the College, especially the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), among others.

Prof. Kehinde thanked the Provost and her team for felicitating with him on his appointment, on behalf of the College.

The Vice-Chancellor recognised and thanked the President and Treasurer of the College Alumni Association, Messrs. Emmanuel Bankole and Alhaji Femi Solarin who are Director, Directorate of University Farms (DUFARMS) and top staff of DUFARMS respectively.

The Provost of the College was accompanied by the Deputy Provost (Administration), Dr. (Engr.) Segun Adejumo, and Deputy Provost (Academics), Dr. (Mrs.) Bukola Fato, among others.
