The Pioneer Vice Chancellor, Professor ‘Nimbe Adedipe has stressed the need for the University to quickly put the past behind it, and focus on ways of restoring the Institution’s glory as quickly as possible.
Professor Adedipe who made this declaration during a Courtesy Visit to him by the Vice- Chancellor, Professor Kolawole Salako and other Principal Officers of the University, said “what has happened, has happened”.
He, advised the Vice-Chancellor to extend hands of fellowship to all, noting that the experiences (lessons) harnessed from the crisis would be of benefit to the University.
Professor Adedipe, further stated that Professor Salako should consolidate on the past achievements of the University, and also break new grounds.
In his remarks, Professor Salako extolled the virtues of the Pioneer Vice-Chancellor, noting that the legacy he left was still very visible, adding that the University Management would continue to rely on the advise of the Pioneer Vice-Chancellor.
He disclosed that the University regretted the crisis that rocked it recently.
Professor Salako, therefore, prayed that the University would never get to that situation again.
Highpoint of the meeting was the presentation of Professor Adedipe’s Memoir titled, “His Light in my Life: Sunny all the Way”, to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Salako.
Present at the visit were his wife, Mrs. Lanre Adedipe; Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Morenike Dipeolu; the University Acting Librarian, Dr. (Mrs.) Fehintola Onifade; the Head, Directorate of Public Relations, Dr. (Mrs.) Linda Onwuka and the Deputy Registrar II, Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Dawodu.
