Two FUNAAB Alumni, Dr. Sarah Edewor of the Department of Agricultural Economics and Farm Management (AE&FM), College of Agricultural Management and Rural Development (COLAMRUD) and Dr. Oluyemi Akintayo of the Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Development and Sustainable Environment (CEADESE), have emerged as One Planet Fellowship Laureates.
The duo were part of the 45 early career scientists, consisting 25 women and 20 men that emerged winners, out of the 1,523 candidates that came from 12 African countries that competed. The One Planet Summit is a career-development initiative that is aimed at building a robust pipeline of scientists leading climate change research in Africa and is designed to build and enhance the mentoring, scientific networking and leadership skills of high-potential researchers working on the nexus between agriculture and climate change adaptation and mitigation. The fellowship is an initiative of the African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD) network, whose current Vice-Chairman, Steering Committee is Prof. Lateef Sanni, the incumbent Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) of FUNAAB.
