FUNAAB Appreciates Dr. Onwuka, Mr. Olobashola for Meritorious Service

The former Acting Registrar and the immediate past Head, Directorate of Public Relations, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) Dr. (Mrs.) Linda Onwuka and the former Director, Directorate of University Farms (DUFARMS), Mr. Joseph Olobashola have been jointly appreciated and commended for their active and meritorious contributions while in the services of the University

The two retiring frontline officers of the University who were hosted to a send-forth event by the University Management were described as hardworking and dedicated staff who know their onions.

Speaking about the person of Dr. Onwuka who was the immediate past Acting Registrar and later Head, Directorate of Public Relations, all the Principal Officers who were present at the event, unanimously described  the quintessential Administrator who had also sojourned as the Registrar, Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun in Delta State, as a principled woman and a very forthright personality.

Dr Onwuka was also described as someone who cannot be easily influenced, especially when it has to do with rules, guidelines and regulations, while the Head, Directorate of Public Relations, Mr. Kola Adepoju said the Directorate was privileged to have witnessed her impactful leadership which he opined reflected collectively on the psyche of the staff of the Directorate.

Mr. Olobashola on the other hand was described as a man of detail, gentle, hardworking and does not condone laziness. He was specially appreciated also for revolutionizing the University farm. Under his watch, it was noted that he showed that agricultural mechanisation is possible, which the University have been engaged in ever since he took charge as Director.

Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kolawole Salako expressed his happiness for witnessing the day, noting that the University will always honour people who really delivered.

Prof. Salako extolled the virtues of Dr. Onwuka and Mr. Olobashola for being firm and upright in their duties. He charged staff to emulate their virtues, noting that the duo does not celebrate mediocrity and handles official matters without fear or prejudice.

He thanked Dr. Onwuka for her administrative acumen which she has used in serving and mentoring others who had worked with her and appreciated Mr. Olobashola for putting DUFARMS on the right path and showing that Mechanisation is possible in FUNAAB.

Responding, the retirees appreciated the University Management for the opportunity given to them to serve, saying that they will cherish their experiences in the University.
