The University and Centre for Global Entrepreneurship and Sustainability Development (CEGESD), Indiana University, Purdue, Indianapolis, USA are set to form a partnership towards promoting Entrepreneurial development in the nation and in Africa.

The Director of CEGESD, Professor (Mrs.) Bessie–House Soremekun dropped the hint while delivering the 4th International Lecture of the University titled, “African-American Entrepreneurship Throughout History: Implications For Africa”, held at the Senate Chamber.

Soremekun, a Professor of Political and African Study at the Indiana University, Purdue, Indianapolis, USA disclosed that America “has become home to 25 million entrepreneurs” adding that “African-American accounted for a significant part of increase in entrepreneurship, with more than 1.2 million owned by African American in United States”.

Professor Soremekun lamented that entrepreneurship in Africa and Nigeria in particular had remained at its lowest ebb due to socio, economic and political challenges.

The University Don, identified lack of formal education as one of the factors militating against the growth of entrepreneurship in Nigeria.
