The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, has extended heartfelt congratulations to the citizens of the People’s Republic of China on the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Republic. The significant milestone was commemorated at a reception held today, September 16, 2024, at the Oriental Hotels in Lagos.
In his address, Prof. Kehinde highlighted the enduring partnership between FUNAAB and China, emphasising the shared goals of agricultural innovation and food security. He underscored the need for a more robust relationship between both parties, particularly in fostering research collaborations that would lead to the revitalisation of agriculture in Nigeria.
“As a leading University in agricultural research, FUNAAB is eager to explore deeper cooperation with China, especially in the area of technological advancements that can drive sustainable food production,” the Vice-Chancellor remarked. He also took the opportunity to extend an invitation to Her Excellency, Ms. Yan Yuqing, Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China in Nigeria, to deliver a Public Lecture at FUNAAB.
In her response, Ms. Yan Yuqing expressed her appreciation for the continued collaboration between the University and China, stating that she looked forward to visiting the University soon. She affirmed that China remained committed to supporting Nigeria’s agricultural sector and viewed FUNAAB as a strategic partner in achieving the goal.
On the Vice-Chancellor’s entourage were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, and the Head, Office of Advancement, Mr. Johnson Olukehinde.
