FUNAAB Drivers/Mechanics Association Celebrate Retirees

As a mark of honour to their retired members, the Drivers/Mechanics Association of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has celebrated their retired members who have served the university meritoriously.

Welcoming the members of the Association, the Chairman, Mr. Olayiwola Tawose congratulated the retirees for serving the university successfully. He added that the retired members came, saw and conquered in their course of duty.

He charged the retirees’ family members not to disturb them with unnecessary things, while he consoled the family of those that have lost their loved ones during active service.

Mr. Tawose admonished other members to be proactive in their duty, saying that members should always pay the association’s dues.

Speaking at the event, the Director, Works and Services, Engineer Olawole Akinyele urged the retirees to utilize the opportunity of their retirement to rest and not put too much burden on their minds.

He affirmed that drivers are very important in every organization as he challenged the drivers not to look down on themselves. Also, the Chairman, Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), FUNAAB branch, Comrade Samson Edivri lauded the retirees for their endurance from the beginning of their service to the end in FUNAAB.

He advised those who are still in service not to live above their earning in order to avoid high blood pressure. Comrade Samson appreciated most bosses for being tolerant and considerate in dealing with their drivers.

Responding on behalf of other retirees, Mr. Olusesan Akinlabi appreciated the Association for organising a befitting send forth for them. He urged other serving drivers to have the spirit of endurance with their bosses and not lose hope. Gifts were presented to the retired drivers as a token of appreciation for their service rendered.
