FUNAAB Fetes China on Chinese New Year Spring Festival

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has joined the global celebration of the Chinese New Year Spring Festival by extending warm felicitations to the government and people of China.

In a ceremony held at the Consulate General of China in Lagos on January 25, 2025, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, delivered the University’s Congratulatory Remarks and Best Wishes.

The Vice-Chancellor lauded the longstanding partnership between China and FUNAAB, particularly under the China-Africa Hundred Universities Cooperation Plan, which has fostered academic and cultural exchange between FUNAAB and its paired institution, Lanzhou University. He emphasised the importance of mutual understanding, collaboration, and friendship, which align with the spirit of the Spring Festival, a celebration of renewal, hope, and unity.

The Chinese Consul General (CG), Ms Yan Yuqing expressed appreciation for FUNAAB’s thoughtful gesture and reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Nigeria, especially in the areas of education, agriculture, and cultural exchange.

The Spring Festival, which marks the beginning of the Chinese lunar calendar, remained a significant occasion worldwide, symbolising prosperity, family unity, and the ushering in of good fortune for the year ahead.
