In a significant stride towards advancing agricultural revitalisation efforts and food security, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has officially flagged off the sales of farm produce through a strategic partnership with Nourished Foods, an agro-based company founded by a distinguished alumnus of the University, Mr. Olabode Orolu.

Flagging off the sales of the farm produce today, May 26, 2025, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde affirmed the University’s dedication to making quality agricultural products available to the University Community and the general public.

Prof. Kehinde also lauded the commitment of the Directorate of University Farms (DUFARMS) and expressed hope for continued collaboration that would not only serve the University Community but also contribute significantly to the nation’s food security.

The Vice-Chancellor, therefore, noted that the initiative aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of Zero Hunger, a goal FUNAAB has championed through its agricultural innovations.

Appreciating DUFARMS, Nourished Foods, and all stakeholders involved in the initiative, the Vice-Chancellor emphasised how meaningful partnerships help bridge gaps and expand impact.

Earlier, Ag. Director, DUFARMS, Dr. Emmanuel Bankole, emphasised the shared vision behind the initiative and the benefits of collaborating with Nourished Foods.

He noted that the partnership has already yielded various products including eggs, catfish, pineapples, maize, and vegetables. Dr. Bankole also assured stakeholders of a steady weekly supply of maize cobs, underscoring the commitment to sustained production and delivery.

He commended the role of alumni in giving back to the University, describing the partnership as a testament to FUNAAB’s leadership in agribusiness and innovation.

The event featured an impressive exhibition and sales of various farm products, including frozen chicken, roasted catfish, smoked catfish, and other fresh produce, all cultivated and processed on campus.
