FUNAAB/GIZ Empowers Service Providers, Coaches

The Director, Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies, Professor Babatunde Adewumi has commended the FUNAAB/GIZ Business Start-Up Loop Programme for empowering service providers and coaches with leadership and team building skills.

Speaking at the Team Building Workshop which attracted representative from different units of the University, the Director said it is part of the requirements for the Business Start-Up Loop programme to move to its third phase, while adding that it will enhance the productivity level and service delivery of participants.

According to him, the training aims at inculcating in participants leadership skills that will enhance team work and assist the programme to achieve its objectives.

Professor Adewumi enumerated the benefits of the FUNAAB-GIZ Business Start Up Loop programme to include Business Orientation, Coaching, Training, Mentoring and Support, Customer and Market Orientation, Detailed Business Plan Development, Viability Test and Ability to Pitch for Investment, Financing options and Linkages, Personal Entrepreneurial and Business Management Skills Development, Business Linkages and Networking and an Internationally recognized Certificate.

He revealed that GIZ is a non-profit organization based in Germany poised at promoting the development of businesses in developing countries so as to liberate its citizens from unemployment problems.

Corroborating him, the Deputy Director CENT, Dr. Elizabeth Oluwalana disclosed that working together FUNAAB and GIZ aim at increasing employment and income generation, as well as access to finances for micro, small and medium scale enterprises through demand-oriented vocational training procedures.

According to her, “through the tripodal mandate of the University, the immediate communities and graduate students of the University would be able to benefit from the progamme so that they can start small and gradually get big like so many enterprises abroad”.

Speaking earlier the Programme Director, Green Shield Integrated Technologies Nigeria Ltd and Consultant for GIZ for the SME Start up loop, Mrs. Olayinka Akinpelu stated that the team building workshop was targetted at working with individuals that are directly or indirectly involved with implementing the project in FUNAAB under the auspices of CENTS.

She further disclosed that the concept is to improve the effort of everyone involved in the project to understand what is expected in the end.
